Gamecocks land transfer DE Terrell Dawkins
Jan. 08, 2022
Coach Shane Beamer is hosting several transfer prospects for official visits this weekend, and the first one to go public with a commitment announcement is DE Terrell Dawkins (6-4 235), a native of Concord, NC who spent the last three seasons at NC State.
Dawkins entered the Portal on December 30th. He began his career at State in 2019 by playing in the maximum four games before being redshirted. He led all ACC freshmen in 2020 with 4.5 sacks and had 36 tackles. He was named the team’s top rookie. Dawkins had off-season surgery that kept him out of drills last spring, and this season he saw limited duty and recorded just 6 tackles with no sacks. He finished his career in Raleigh with 42 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.
Dawkins took an official visit to Florida State earlier in the week.
Dawkins gives the Gamecocks a total of 27 signees/commitments/counting transfers in their 2022 class. And there is a second commitment from Saturday still to be accounted for as Beamer put out a pair of commitment alerts earlier in the day.
I trust God more than man, thankful for this opportunity #Spursup pic.twitter.com/YIAgUjl8zu
