The Class of 2016 safety from Montgomery, Ala., said that USC leads for his services because they are showing the most interest in him.

Blue, who is 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, will play his senior season at Park Crossing High after transferring from Jemison High in Jemison, Ala. He switched from linebacker to safety last season.

“They really want him,” Park Crossing coach Walter Grider said of the Gamecocks. “I’m excited for him. He’s getting a lot of attention. He’s a smart kid, athletic, physical. He’s got every tool that you want as a football player.”

Then-defensive backs coach Grady Brown offered him on behalf of the Gamecocks, and linebackers coach Kirk Botkin is his official recruiter.

Here are five things to know about Blue’s recruitment:

1. The recruiting process

“I’m about done with it,” he said. “I’m still going to take visits during the season, but I want to go ahead and be committed before the season. This has been stressful and I just want to get it out of the way. I feel like my mind is already made up.”

2. How USC leads despite him not visiting yet

“They show the most interest in me and they have a plan for me. Whoever shows the most interest in me, I show the most interest back.”

3. USC’s plan for Blue

“They want me to play strong safety or the spur. I prefer that position. I feel like I’m a good fit. It’s a big position need for them. I feel like I can have a chance to come in and contribute early. I like it because I feel like I am able to do more at the position.”

4. His other schools of interest include Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Nebraska and the home-state schools Alabama and Auburn

“I’m still considering those schools. South Carolina is showing me they want me the most. They have a plan for me. I don’t want to go somewhere because that’s where I grew up. I want to have my options open.”

5. What he knows about the Gamecocks

“I know they have a great fan base. I have watched a lot of their games. The stadium atmosphere is great. I looked up a lot of stuff about it and I know the college town is one of the best. Everything sounds great. I just want to go see it for myself.”
