Gamecocks men's basketball has schedule change due to COVID-19

11/25/2020

At the start of the 2020-2021 college basketball season, we have already seen plenty of scheduling adjustments as teams battle COVID-19 issues.

Another team was added to that list, as South Carolina announced it will not be able to play the exhibition game against Coker that was scheduled to happen Wednesday night.

Luckily for the Gamecocks, the issue was not within their own roster.

Because of Coker’s inability to return COVID-19 tests in time, South Carolina basketball will take the floor for the first time this season on Saturday against Liberty in Kansas City.

It’s a frustrating situation for Gamecock fans that were looking forward to seeing their team in action on Wednesday, but it could certainly be worse as other teams around the country battle more serious COVID-19 issues.

Due to a delayed delivery of Coker’s COVID-19 testing results in advance of tonight’s exhibition, the matchup vs. the Cobras has been canceled. South Carolina continues to prepare for its season opener vs. Liberty on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City.
