Former Ole Miss signee DE Joe Anderson (6-foot-4, 285 pounds) will play his second season at Copiah-Lincoln Junior College in Mississippi this fall and then he most likely will get another shot to play in the SEC.
Anderson has picked up offers from USC, Texas A&M and Mississippi State, and Ole Miss is also back in touch. He also has offers from Iowa State, Kansas and Texas-San Antonio. Right now he has the Gamecocks and Aggies at the top.
"South Carolina showed interest when I was in high school and they've just started to come back," said Anderson who has been talking with defensive line coach Lance Thompson. "He was talking to me about how I play and that I have great speed. He was telling me about how they run their defense and that I would be on the end as a five or four technique. That's what we run so I'd know what to do."
Anderson said Texas A&M is recruiting him the hardest at this point and he wants to visit there and USC this fall. In fact, he wants to take official visits in the fall before making a decision.
Anderson is a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana. He is on track to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two at this next stop. Last season Anderson totaled 15 tackles and two sacks.
Notes
Former Georgia defensive back Johnathan Abram, now of Jones Junior College in Mississippi, was offered Thursday by South Carolina. Abram played last season at Georgia and even started in the game against USC. He did not join the Bulldogs in their bowl game due to what was called "personal reasons."
USC offered 2018 QB James Foster of Montgomery, Alabama on Thursday. He's been committed to UNC. He will visit Tennessee Saturday.
USC Thursday offered defensive back Paris Ford of Pittsburgh. He's currently committed to Pittsburgh.
Dutch Fork WR Austin Connor was offered Thursday by Vanderbilt.
Tennessee offered OL T.J. Moore of Charlotte who has been favoring USC.
