The South Carolina Gamecocks already have four commitments for the 2015 class. With limited number of spots left available for the 2014 class there are not many scholarships being handed out at this juncture. However, that is not the case for the 2015 recruiting class.
Class of 2015 ATH Mike Hughes has an early offer from the Gamecocks.
This past Monday Mike Hughes (New Bern, N.C./New Bern), a 5-foot-10, 160 pound three-star athlete, received his second SEC offer from the Gamecocks and his ninth offer overall. Last year as a sophomore Hughes played cornerback, wide receiver, and also got involved in the return game helping lead his New Bern team to a 4AAAA State Championship in North Carolina.
While Hughes’s recruitment is just getting started, the South Carolina coaches can be optimistic about their chances of staying in the hunt for the services of the Tar Heel State product.
“I grew up watching South Carolina actually, I like the team a lot,” Hughes said. “I like their offense, they had a couple good players this last year like Ace Sanders, I liked watching him play. I used to like watching Alshon Jeffery a lot, and you know the defense is always good.”
Hughes also claims early offers from Clemson, ECU, Florida, N.C. State, UNC and Virginia.
