Gamecocks OL commitment Eric Douglas hears from new coach

Jan. 10, 2017

About 24 hours after Eric Wolford was hired by South Carolina, the new offensive line coach was in touch with 3-star commitment Eric Douglas.

Douglas, the No. 59-ranked offensive tackle in the class of 2017, is one of two offensive linemen committed to sign with the Gamecocks next month. The senior from Mallard Creek High School (Charlotte, N.C.) reached out to SEC Country to share details of that conversation.

“I just talked to coach Wolf. Can’t wait to get to work just checked in and see how I was doing,” he said, “And said he liked the versatility I possess by moving from tackle to center and said he can’t wait to have face to face contact on my official (visit) this weekend.”

Ridge View High School (Columbia, S.C.) graduate Dennis Daley, who was placed at Georgia Military Academy, is also committed to ink with South Carolina. Summie Carlay, a 3-star from Laurens (S.C.) High School, was one of four freshmen who enrolled on Monday.

Wolford and the Gamecocks coaches are expected to host several offensive linemen for official visits over the next few weeks. Among those previously reported names: 4-star Tony Gray (Loganville, Ga.) and 3-stars Jordan Tucker (Roswell, Ga.), Jordan Rhodes (Fairburn, Ga.) and Jordon Carty (Hollywood, Fla.).
