Wide receiver Micheal Bowman, a standout player at Havelock High in Havelock, N.C., is no longer a South Carolina commitment for the Class of 2015.

According to reports by WNCT-TV in Greenville, N.C., and the Jacksonville (N.C.) Daily News, Bowman faces 16 misdemeanor larceny charges in connection with the thefts of six iPads and two iPods belonging to Arthur W. Edwards Elementary School, as well as eight other iPods that belong to school employees. According to the Jacksonville Daily News, Bowman worked for a company that cleaned the school during the summer.
Havelock police delivered a criminal summons to Bowman last week at Havelock High, according to the reports. He was not taken to jail.
The 6-foot, 195-pound Bowman committed to USC in March. Current Gamecocks receiver Pharoh Cooper and offensive lineman Corey Robinson also went to Havelock.
Bowman is considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite. Last season he caught 52 passes for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns in helping his team win a third-straight state championship.
With Bowman's departure, there are now three receivers committed to the Gamecocks for this class. It is not clear yet whether the Gamecocks will add another receiver to the group.
USC has 27 pledges for 2015, with Dexter Wideman and Darin Smalls also expected to join the class after not qualifying this year.
