Gamecocks reach into Oklahoma with tight end offer

Carolina has not recruited the state of Oklahoma much over the years, but tight ends coach Bobby Bentley identified a target he likes in 2022 TE Andre Dollar (6-5 222) of Mustang and made him an offer over the weekend when he was in for an unofficial visit for the Clemson game. Dollar has also been offered at this point by Liberty, Georgia Southern, Evangel and Southern Miss, but his list is expected to grow with Power Five offers over the coming months. For now, he’s happy to get that first big time offer from the Gamecocks.
“I’ve grown up watching SEC football, so it was an amazing feeling to receive it,” Dollar said. “They’ve been in touch for a couple months, so when it was finalized, I felt thankful and appreciative. I like how South Carolina incorporates tight ends into their offense in many ways. I also loved the facilities that I got to experience on Saturday. They have some of the best coaches in the nation, including coach Bentley. They like how I can be used in many different ways and I’m very reliable in tough situations. They like my height and build as well.”
Dollar also has taken visits to Georgia, Oklahoma and Stanford. From what he saw on his visit last weekend, and with the offer from the Gamecocks, Dollar has put the Gamecocks in a strong position, early in his recruiting, along with Georgia and Oklahoma.
“They are definitely higher up on the list,” Dollar said. ” From relationships to communication to overall enjoyment. I’ve been to some other colleges on unofficial visits , and South Carolina was by far the best.”
This season Dollar has 15 catches for 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.
