2021 OL Micah Morris 6'4" 316lbs is one of the most sought after offensive tackles in the nation for the 2021 recruiting class.  His offers are national but his interest is largely focused on the Southeast at this point.  And that includes the Gamecocks.  He has visited Carolina this season. The USC visit was the more recent coming last Saturday for the Vanderbilt game.

“I’ve been there multiple times, twice over the summer for a camp and a junior day,” Morris said. “It was a great environment and great to be back on campus and feel the energy from the crowd and the camaraderie between the players.  South Carolina was the first school to offer me so we’ve had the longest relationship than any other school that I’ve been in contact with or that has shown interest in me. The bond has been there and I feel like we are definitely close.”

That bond is with offensive line coach Eric Wolford who has had a revolving door of late at right tackle due to injuries.  The production there, however, has remained good, and Morris has taken notice of that. “You can tell with the right tackle position with their starter getting hurt and with Jaylen Nichols having to come up and play and do a great job,  to him getting hurt and then next man up,” Morris said.  “He’s (Wolford) producing offensive linemen that are ready to come in and perform. There’s no weak link on the offensive line. It’s just great the way he produces them getting them ready for the next level.”

Morris also has been to Georgia, Florida, and Clemson.  He will visit Alabama this Saturday for the LSU game and will go to Auburn for the Iron Bowl.  Soon he will announce a top six as he moves toward his announcement on his father’s birthday, December 17th.

“South Carolina definitely top school on my list right now,” Morris said.  As for what he’ll be looking for in his eventual choice?  “Number one is academics, what a degree from that school can do for me in life.  Number two has to be the fit and the vibe that I feel while I’m there. If I don’t feel it too good while I’m there or if I don’t feel I can fit in, then I can’t see myself going there. Definitely the coaches and can they get the best out of their players at all times. The camaraderie between the players. And, it’s a big thing to me, fan support. I’ve always wanted to go to a team that has fans that are loyal no matter what the team is looking like at that moment.” Morris said he plans to major in criminal justice.

Sounds promising for us. This would be a big time get but signing the 2021 class is a long ways off.
