The week in quotes

... “South Carolina is a huge game, we all know that. We’ve got a lot of respect for them. We’ve got something to prove. If we can keep improving, get prepared and stay together, we have a good chance to get after it. We’re going to Columbia for a 60-minute war.” – Georgia coach Mark Richt

... “Marcus has had a bunch of yards against them, so you would think they would get more (defensive players) up there or whatever. Who knows? We’ve got to block and obviously they’ve got to stop the run. Everyone we play has the same plan, really. When you only throw 15-20 passes a game, the other team can’t say: ‘Let’s stop the pass.’ They’ve obviously got to try to stop Marcus and the run game.” -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier

... “They were quite frankly able to run the ball better when everybody knew they were going to run the ball, so that’s a problem. He’s even more effective in the fourth quarter than the first quarter because as everybody else has kind of given away a little bit, he’s still going strong.” -- Richt

... “We want to be first really, but we want to get after the quarterback as much as possible. We don’t need to blitz that much. We try to get to the quarterback with the front four, but we try to get to the quarterback and make plays.” – defensive end Jadeveon Clowney on South Carolina being No. 2 in the country in sacks with 22

... “As we all know, freshman running backs can certainly play and can play well. That’s a position you don’t have to have been there for two years and learn the offense and all that kind of stuff. We’ve got to make sure they don’t have room to run. That Tennessee game, I think two or three of their runs, I don’t know if a Tennessee player touched them.” – Spurrier on the impact of Georgia freshmen running backs Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall

... “If you give them a crease, they are gone.” -- South Carolina defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles on Gurley and Marshall
