University of South Carolina students get a rare chance to camp out on the Horseshoe Friday night, an effort to boost the excitement for ESPN’s College GameDay broadcasts Saturday morning. Here are some of the fun rules and regulations as released by the university Wednesday:
• “No climbing on monuments, trees or other structures.”
• “Pizza will be delivered to the Horseshoe at 12:15 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. Breakfast will be delivered at 6 a.m.”
• “All students are expected to demonstrate extreme excitement when “Sandstorm” is played at all times of the day or night.”
• “Fun and respect for the Horseshoe and your fellow students are required.”
• “Please keep all signs, posters, actions, banners and flags positive, classy and supportive of our Gamecocks.”
• “Cheer for the Gamecocks, and let’s be silent when our opponents are mentioned both on Saturday, Oct. 6, and the orange crowd we play later in October and November.”
• Home field advantage for the team starts Friday night on the Horseshoe and continues through the game Saturday. Carolina students will be a major influence on the game’s outcome.
• “Students can start putting up tents at 5 p.m. Friday, and they must clear all tents and gear from the Horseshoe by 7 a.m. Saturday.”

ESPN College GameDay on the Horseshoe Activities and Guidelines
ESPN College GameDay will broadcast from the Horseshoe on the University of South Carolina campus this Saturday, Oct. 6.
To help USC students get excited for GameDay and Carolina’s game against Georgia, the Department of Student Life will provide poster-making supplies for students to make signs for the broadcast on Friday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Greene Street in front of the Russell House. Cocky and the cheerleaders will be there during this time, and “Sandstorm” will play at noon. In addition, students can participate in the Cornhole Challenge presented by the Home Depot and Coke Zero from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The winning team will receive two VIP backstage passes to College GameDay. Advance sign-up is required at www.bit.ly/usc-cornhole.
USC students will be allowed to camp on the east end of the Horseshoe between the GameDay set and the McKissick Museum from 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 until 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. All tents and gear must be removed from the Horseshoe by 7 a.m., as the ESPN pit area opens at 7 a.m. Students can rent tents, sleeping bags and other equipment from Outdoor Recreation, which is part of Campus Recreation. The following guidelines are in place for students visiting and spending the night on the Horseshoe on Friday, Oct. 5 and during the day on Saturday, Oct. 6. All university policies will be enforced.
• No items (such as stakes) may be placed in the ground.
• No items may be attached to the trees or other vegetation.

• No pets are allowed.
• Cooking, heaters or open flames are major no-no’s.
• University policies will apply, and non-compliers will be sent home or face worse consequences.
• No coolers, alcoholic beverages or glass containers.
• Distribution of political stickers, brochures and other promotional items is strictly forbidden.
• The Russell House will be open all Friday night, and port-a-johns will be located in the parking lot behind Harper-Elliott.
• Barnes and Noble Café will be open until 11 p.m. on Friday night.
• The Horseshoe Deli and Freshens will be open in the Russell House until midnight on Friday night.
• Einstein Bros. Bagels and the Grand Marketplace will open for breakfast at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Gamecock fans are encouraged to wear garnet and black to games and to enthusiastically support the Gamecocks in good sportsmanlike fashion. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Gamecock fans shall:
• Conduct themselves in a manner that represents their university, the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA with honor, dignity and respect.
• Demonstrate the qualities of civility and sportsmanship at all times.
• Not use vulgar, abusive, racist, sexist, demeaning or intimidating language at any time.
• Support the players, coaches and officials in a positive manner.
• Treat the visiting team, coaches and fans with courtesy and respect at all times.
• Not engage in cheers that are vulgar, crass or demeaning.
• Refrain from throwing objects onto the field for any reason.
• Not become inebriated or belligerent.
• Refrain from entering the playing field at any time, including after the game.
• Be a positive role model for those around them by treating others with courtesy and respect.
