SCOUTING MISSOURI

The Tigers are coming off a 6-2 win over Missouri State on Tuesday night as Kameron Misner had two hits and drove in a pair while the Tiger pitching allowed just five hits on the night. Misner has 10 home runs, 29 RBI and 16 stolen bases while Chris Cornelius has 10 doubles on the season. On the mound, TJ Sikkema has four wins and a 1.46 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 61.2 innings pitched while Tyler LaPlante has a 2.38 ERA in eight starts.

THE SERIES

Carolina leads the all-time series vs. Missouri, 14-7, and are 4-5 in Columbia, Mo., against the Tigers. Last season, the Gamecocks won three of four meetings with Missouri, taking 2-of-3 games in a May series in Founders Park and winning, 4-2, in the opening round of the SEC Tournament in Hoover on May 22. Carlos Cortes had a walk-off home run in a 1-0 win in South Carolina on May 13, 2018.

TRIPLE YOUR TRIPLES

South Carolina had three triples on the night in the 10-3 win over Charleston Southern on April 23, two by freshman Brady Allen. The Gamecocks had back-to-back triples in the third inning as Allen and classmate Josiah Sightler each reached to start the inning. The last Gamecock to have two triples in a game was Lonnie Chisenhall against Western Kentucky on Feb. 10, 2007. The last time Carolina had three triples in a game was on March 4, 2005 vs. Pepperdine in Minneapolis, Minn. The school record for triples in a game is five set on March 17, 1986 against The Citadel.

BERRYHILL CATCHES FIRE

Redshirt sophomore catcher Luke Berryhill hit his 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the 10-3 win over Charleston Southern on April 23. He carries a 21-game reached base streak into the Missouri series and is hitting .316 with three doubles and three home runs in his last 10 games.

UP NEXT

Carolina will take the midweek off for finals and return to the diamond next Friday (May 3) to start a three-game series against Vanderbilt at Founders Park. Friday's game starts at 7 p.m.

Gamecocks down 1-0 in bottom 7th. Cam Tringali has gotten 1 out, but hit a batter and then walked the next, and his day is done. He really pitched a great game, but Missouri has no-hit us through 7 innings. Now Hinson is coming in for Tringali, and I suspect the floodgates will now open wide.....

.....and yep, as I check the game-tracker, Hinson gives up a RBI single to the first batter he faces. Now 2-0 Missouri.....

Dang!!!!  I am tired of losing!!!!!!!!!

And here comes the blow out.

crap
