50-years ago teams played 10 games, then a bowl game if they were invited - there weren't but a hand full of bowl games back then.

I VIVIDLY remember watching Lee Roy Jordan, #54 at Alabama as a little boy - he was a 'two-way' All-American, playing Center and Middle Linebacker, one of the best players to ever put on a uniform for ANYBODY. He played at a weight between 200 and 215 pounds. His junior year 'Bama won the National Championship going 11-0 with six shutouts ... they won the NC Game 10-3.

His senior year 'Bama went 11-1 (they played an extra regular-season game) and just missed repeating - in his very last college game Jordan was MVP in the Orange Bowl, a 17-0 win over Oklahoma in a game that Jordan recorded 31 (THIRTY ONE!!!) individual tackles.

He then played about 15-years as the D-Captain and starting Middle Linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys. Lee Roy Jordan was ALWAYS a 'winner'.

I looked up Mr. Jordan's 50-year old 1961 'Bama photo. He's wearing white socks, black shoes, white pants, a solid red jersey, a red helmet with a white stripe and his number "54" is on the side of his helmet ... it's the EXACT SAME uniform Alabama plays in today. NOTHING is different.

I LIKE our garnet jerseys, white pants, white helmets with the Block C & Gamecock on the side ... why don't we just stick with that, and then wear 'white jerseys' on the road.

That gray stuff and camo stuff and mix and match stuff it doesn't get it done - even the 'black' jerseys need to stay retired.

We're FINALLY building a 'winner' - let's build a little 'tradition' along with it. Players win games, not costumes. It's just my opinion.

(PS - Anyone who thinks 'uniforms' help with recruiting ain't been reading 'Bama's recruiting classes the last half-dozen years. GREAT players want to play on great teams.)

We're GETTING THERE!!! Let's act (and look) like we've been there. Again, it's just my opinion.
