Dan Quinn to the Seahawks. Maybe Georgia's DC is next...

Florida and Will Muschamp will have a new defensive coordinator in 2013 as Dan Quinn has accepted the same position with the Seattle Seahawks.

It was announced on Wednesday morning that the Jacksonville Jaguars had hired Seattle defensive coordinator Gus Bradley to be their new head coach and Pete Carroll did not waste time finding Bradley's replacement. Linebackers coach D.J. Durkin has been promoted to replace Quinn.

"D.J. and I will run the defense, continuing the way that Dan and I did for the past two years," Muschamp said in a statement.

"I'm happy for Dan and this opportunity. I always encourage my staff, when opportunities arise, to take the next step in their career. Dan's background is in the NFL, and this is a great chance to go back to a place he's familiar with."

Quinn came to Gainesville with Muschamp for the 2011 season as the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator. Before that, however, Quinn spent two seasons as the Seahawks defensive line coach. He held the position in Carroll's first season in Seattle.

Quinn held numerous positions as an NFL coach from 2000 to 2010 before leaving to join Muschamp at Florida.

Also, Quinn might not be the last defensive coordinator from the SEC East to make the leap to the NFL. Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham is reportedly Chip Kelly's top choice to run the Philadelphia Eagles defense.
