STORYLINES FOR THE GAME

Gamecocks gunning for Bonham Trophy:
The winner of the USC-Texas A&M game traditionally wins a trophy, but the Gamecocks haven’t had that honor just yet. A win on Saturday would allow South Carolina to beat the Aggies for the first time since the annual series began in 2014.

Beamer’s second chance at Aggies:
The Gamecocks were throttled 44-14 last season in Shane Beamer’s first year. The game is projected to be much closer, and the momentum South Carolina holds gives it a chance at a different outcome.

Aggies’ difficult season: Texas A&M’s season got off to a difficult start with its infamous loss to Appalachian State. Injuries and other tough losses have the once-No. 6 team in the nation entering Saturday with a 3-3 record.

MarShawn Lloyd’s hot streak: Lloyd has picked up steam of late, with two 100-yard rushing games in his last three outings. The struggles on the ground were a talking point early in the season, but the Gamecocks have turned it around due to his play. Texas

A&M’s quarterback rotation: Haynes King was named the starting quarterback for the Aggies at the start of the season, but was replaced by Max Johnson. But Johnson’s injury opened the door for King to return against Alabama and nearly guide the Aggies to victory. Texas A&M quarterbacks have completed just 58.8% of their passes this season.

Buzz around USC: South Carolina’s three-game winning streak, highlighted by a win against Kentucky, has given the team a 4-2 record. Saturday’s game is a sellout. The team received votes in the last two Associated Press polls and needs just two more wins to reach bowl eligibility.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR COLUMBIA, SC

ESPN FPI GAME PREDICTION

Couldn’t ask for a better start to the game 7-0 Gamecocks after a 100-yard kick return by Xavier Leggette

Gamecocks capitalized on Aggies miscues to take a 17-3 1st Qtr. lead, but the Gamecock offense has been pretty stagnant in the 1st half. The defense has been solid however, holding Texas A&M to two field goals, we lead 17-6 with 3 minutes to play in the half, but the Aggies are threatening......

Gamecocks clinging to a 24-21 lead after 3 quarters, but are threatening to score again down at the 12 yd line......

Marshawn Lloyd punches it in from the 4 on 3rd down. TOUCHDOWN!!!! The PAT is blocked, but South Carolina still leads by two scores, with only 3:08 left to play in the game.....

Gamecocks defense holds the Aggies to 4 and out. Gamecocks get the ball on Texas A&M's 16 yd line, with 2:07 left to play, and a 9-point lead. Aggies have all of their timeouts. Gamecocks play more to run down the clock instead of tacking on more points, but only burn off a minute, and the Aggies get the ball back with 1:01 left to play.....
