The Gamecocks' offensive and defensive numbers look more respectable, but only after back-to-back home blow-out victories over outmatched opponents in Charlotte and South Carolina State. Like South Carolina, Kentucky has played against two highly ranked SEC opponents Florida and Mississippi, both on the road, and came away 1-1 with tightly contested battles. Now they face the Gamecocks at home: the big test will be the Gamecocks' offense executing against the Wildcat's strong defense, ranked in the top 20 in most categories. They are weaker in the run, but we are weakest in run defense. I think the home-field advantage plays a huge in this game.

The current betting odds have South Carolina listed as a 6.5-point underdog in this game according to DraftKings Sportsbook. South Carolina was a much bigger underdog earlier in the week but the starting QB for Kentucky has been on the injury report over the last week and it is highly likely that he is not going to play in this game. Kentucky has been good this year but they just suffered a loss at Ole Miss and losing their starting QB is going to be a huge blow to them. Kentucky still has a good defense but their offense will not be moving the ball as efficiently this season and they could struggle all game to score points on South Carolina here. South Carolina has been putting up points in their games too, they will get slowed down by the Kentucky defense here but if Kentucky doesn't get anything going on offense then there is going to be too much pressure on this defense to keep them in the game and South Carolina will be able to keep the game close if they do not win it outright. Kentucky will have to keep this a low-scoring game with their defense if they want a chance to win or they will be in for an upset here.
