LB DJ Lundy (6-0 225) of Ocilla, GA has owned an USC for nearly a year and Monday he made his first visit to the campus along with teammate Jamorri Colson and some coaches. Lundy played most running back last season rushing for 1800 yards, but he said the Gamecocks like him as a middle linebacker.
“It went wonderful. The facilities look nice, the atmosphere there, I talked to the coaches and they like me and want to get me back on more visits,” Lundy said. “I think they are on the rise. I feel like they are fixing to take over.”
Lundy met with Will Muschamp and his defensive coaches while on the visit. They explained to him more about their defensive scheme and what his role would be in it.
“They fit me perfectly,” he said. “They talked about their defensive scheme and how I would fit it, what they would get out of it and what i would get out of it. Things went well.”
So well, Lundy was ready to name the Gamecocks his leader after the visit.
“That put them at the top for me,” Lundy said. “Yeah, I would call them my favorite. Number two right now I’d say is Kentucky followed by Vanderbilt.”
Lundy’s other offers include Kentucky, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State and Troy. He has also been to Auburn, Georgia Southern, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. He will visit Clemson and Georgia Tech Friday.
Lundy said he wants to take visits to his offering schools this summer and then make his decision. He and the Gamecocks talked about an official visit this December following his playoffs.
