3 star OL Trey Derouen (6-3 309) of Lilburn, GA went back on the recruiting market earlier this month after decommitting from Mississippi State. He immediately drew the interest of USC, Florida and Louisville and those are the three schools he’s considering moving forward. None of the three have offered at this point though Derouen feels they will when he visits in January. He has set his USC visit for January 23rd.

“January is going to be a crazy month for me and South Carolina is one of the top ones,” Derouen said. “Coach Elliott said they really like me and they really want me but he doesn’t want to throw an offer blindly. He wants us to get like a great relationship because if I go to South Carolina he wants to make sure it’s the right fit for me. They’ve got a couple of guys leaving so it’s a chance for me to play on their line in the SEC. And coach Elliott is the type of coach that will get up in your face and is either going to make you stronger or break you. That’s the type of coach I like.”

Derouen said the Gamecocks like him for both tackle and guard at this point and he feels like USC is recruiting him the hardest right now. The Gamecocks first reached out to him after he decommitted.

Derouen said coaches say they like his feet, his leg punch and his lateral movement, and he said he has good upper body strength.

He won’t make his decision until after his visits. He has not set dates for the Florida and Louisville visits.
