USC Saturday picked up a commitment from 3 star OL JP Vonashek (6-7 275) of Kingsland, GA. Vonashek made his commitment while in Columbia for an unofficial visit. He's the third offensive lineman to commit to the Gamecocks and is their 16th commitment for the 2013 class. The highly recruited Vonashek also held offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Michigan State, North Carolina, Tennessee and Central Florida. link: http://www.goupstate...9710/-1/PSPORTS

For Vonashek, USC was love at first sight

OL JP Vonashek (6-7 280) of Kingsland, GA had never visited USC prior to Saturday. That one visit was all it took for the big tackle to make his decision. "It was going to Georgia or USC," Vonashek said. "I was at Georgia a couple of times and was at USC yesterday (Saturday) and I liked it better. I liked the coaching staff a lot. I think we're going to be fine together. Coach (Shawn) Elliott has a lot of intensity and gets after you, but at the end of the day, he treats you like one of his own sons. I love that. I think we're on the same page." Though he'd never visited USC before, Vonashek has paid attention to the Gamecocks' rise in the SEC. "I knew about the program the last couple of years," he said. "I liked everything about it." Vonashek said coaches like his big frame and his potential to become a 300 pounder. He also had offers from Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Central Florida. He's USC's 16th commitment for the 2013 class and the third on the offensive line.
