WR Tyquan Johnson (6-3 181) of Sylvania, GA already is a Gamecock, at Screven County High School.  Thursday he was extended an opportunity to continue his Gamecock identification at South Carolina, Johnson worked out at Will Muschamp’s camp before the watchful eye of receivers coach Bryan McClendon and afterwards learned they have a place for him in the 2018 class if he wants it.

“It means a lot,” Johnson said of receiving the USC offer.  “Coach McClendon and I have been knowing one another ever since I was in the eighth grade.  Me and him got that relationship, we already know what’s up.  We know how each other is.  Coach Muschamp, he’s a very good coach.  They love the way I compete and just ball out.  Good competitor, big, physical and fast.  There would be a site to see with me on the team, have a winning streak and winning some bowl games.”

Johnson also has offers from Kansas State, Mississippi State, Syracuse, Georgia Southern, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, FAU, Troy, Tulane and others.  The offer from USC puts the Gamecocks in great shape.

“They in the top,” Johnson said.  “I told Coach McClendon, they in the top, no doubt about that.  Them and Mississippi State, they’re top two right now.”

Johnson visited Mississippi State earlier this year and he is going back to Starkville June 17th for a visit.  USC’s camp was his last camp experience.  Johnson said he won’t make a decision until December until after his official visits. He is not graduating early
