WR Anthony Parker (5-10 160) of Hinesville, GA made the trip to Columbia Saturday to take in the USC spring game.  He and the Gamecocks are relatively new to one another and the visit served as the jumpstart in building the relationship.

“I loved my visit at USC Saturday, I loved everything about the place,” Parker said.  “The facilities were amazing.  What stood out to me the most was how much the place cares about football and how USC puts players in the league , because that’s the goal.  After my visit, I’m very interested in South Carolina and I’m excited to come back.”

Parker, of course, focused on the offense, in particular the receivers, and he could see himself being a contributor in the Gamecock offense if given the chance.

“I’m a slot receiver and I can easily get open because of my route running and speed,” Parker said.  “I see myself fitting well in the Gamecocks’ offense.  They like to throw the ball to there slot guys a lot, so that would be great for me.”

Parker has not landed any offers yet but he feels they will be coming.  He’d love for USC to be in that mix.

“Right now I’m building a bond with Coach Mike Peterson,” he said.  “He’s going to have me come back to visit sometime, and over the summer come to one of the USC one day football camps and go from there.”

Parker also has visited Alabama, Georgia Tech, Mercer, Georgia State, FAMU and Stetson.  Last season he had 17 catches for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns.  He also recorded 24 tackles on defense.
