GG Jackson: final evaluation from the Peach Jam

Finkelstein pointed out that GG's game may work better at the college level than that of the NBA.

I think he will really like being a part of the CLA gameday environment and stick around for 2-3 years instead.

GG has an NBA ready body now, his bodywill only get better under the GAMECOCK staff and his offensive game will get more polished under Coach Paris. He has the ability to play inside and out, a decent spot up 3 shot, has a very good motor with the drive to run the floor and play defense at a high level today. I see him playing one year at the most as he will be a 1st round lottery pick, with a chance to be 1-5... he is the real deal. Let's have some fun!

The kid is 17, and I reiterate he's a kid. Unless he's done growing, the odds are pretty low that he has an NBA body now. Now I think there is room for discussion if he has an NBA game now -- and we shall see this year.

Personally, I think he's leagues ahead of the project big men that we have added to our team the past decade, but he still may struggle against SEC bigs. He will probably struggle in rebounding initially. The hope is that his skill facing the basket and foot work will let him overcome his lack of bulk -- it's tough to compete under the boards against someone with the same height but with an additional 25-30 lbs of muscle.

I have watched us get victimized by the Gators' tall Gs shooting pull-up jumpers inside the arc for so long.

If he can do something like that in the short term for us that will be great.

First off he is not a big man, I think the best quote from Coach Paris to explain that is "there is nothing on the basketball court GG can't do".., he may not be great at one thing but when you watch him play at 6'9 215 solid muscle, he is smooth and fluid in all aspects of basketball. At 17 he has an NBA ready body, have you not seen the kid play? Kevin Durant was 6'11 215 his rookie year and that is the type of player GG is.... His body is more NBA ready at 17 than Durant at 19 with similar games...
