Good news for RJ Roderick; more developments in 2018

Not done for the season
A week ago, RJ Roderick didn’t think he would play another snap of football for Cane Bay High School (Summerville, S.C.).
The pain from a stress fracture in his back that limited him over the summer had returned. Not long after Roderick set the Cane Bay rushing record, the future South Carolina safety shut things down.
His high school career, he believed, was finished.
“Rest and time,” Roderick told SEC Country last week, when asked about his recovery. “By the time January comes and I enroll, I’ll be good. Right now, I’ve just got to take a couple of extra precautions, being that I will be at South Carolina in January.
[COLOR= rgb(68, 68, 68)]After getting a second opinion, Roderick confirmed on Wednesday that he’s been cleared to play on Friday when Cane Bay (8-1) plays Berkeley (8-1) for the 4A Region 8 title.[/COLOR]
Roderick is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 89 safety in the Class of 2018. Among prospects from the state of South Carolina, he’s No. 20 overall.
After his return to action on Friday night, Roderick will visit South Carolina for the Vanderbilt game.
South Carolina recruiting guests
A handful of prospects are confirmed as guests for the South Carolina-Vanderbilt game:
South Carolina offensive line commitments Wyatt Campbell and Maxwell Iyama are confirmed as unofficial visitors. Offensive lineman Hank Manos, wide receiver Darius Rush and quarterback Dakereon Joyner are regulars at Gamecocks home games, though they haven’t confirmed plans for Saturday.
The number of visitors on South Carolina’s guest list for Saturday could be handcuffed by the ACT, which is scheduled for that day. Offensive line commitment LaMarius Benson is scheduled to take the exam.
Cornerback commitment Marlon Character Jr. hopes to visit for the Florida game, though he hasn’t finalized the date. Three-star offensive tackle Jaylen Nichols, a 2019 prospect from Charlotte, N.C., plans to return for the Florida game.
Another Charlotte-area prospect, 2020 wide receiver Porter Rooks, made plans earlier this season to visit South Carolina when Vanderbilt is in town, but he’s yet to confirm if that trip is still on.
Elsewhere in 2018
According to Phil Kornblut, Tindall plans to take official visits to Florida and Georgia, but has no timeline for a decision.
“Every time I think about it, something keeps on pushing me back,” Tindall said.
Georgia hosted him for the Mississippi State game. He’s already been to a couple of South Carolina games this season.
Kornblut also caught up with 3-star safety Israel Mukuamu (Bossier City, La.), a Florida State commitment who recently took an official visit to South Carolina. Mukuamu, who played at Berkeley (Moncks Corner, S.C.) before transferring, returned to Tallahassee this past weekend.
“I’m going to pretty much stick with Florida State but still anything can happen,” he said. “I’m not going to close all doors, but pretty much I’m going to stick with Florida State.”
