Gray Collegiate hires Phil Petty as co-offensive coordinator

GC is in the unique position of being allowed to recruit because they have a limited enrollment as a private school compared to public school programs that are forbidden from recruiting outside of their districts.

At least that's the way I understand things.

They don't have a decent football stadium yet and had to rent Fairfield Central's stadium last year for the 2A play-offs to accommodate the fans from both schools.

They won the 2A championship last year, but you have to wonder if the delayed graduations due to Covid gave them more depth than they would usually have.

You also have to wonder if the NIL stuff will reverse the depth gains of last year with kids graduating early to take advantage of the money that's in college football right now.

Will more HS kids graduate early and avoid post-season play to avoid the injuries that would delay getting into the college football money?

The affect of NIL on some private school athletic programs might be more negative than one would think. Or not.

Who knows?
