Former Winthrop HC, and name that comes up every time the fans aren't happy with CFM - Gregg Marshall is in the news right now.

Here's the latest out of Wichita State...

I've, personally, never thought the guy would be a good fit at USC, despite his Palmetto State ties.  But with regard to the allegations and the potential job loss, I certainly wish Gregg Marshall well.  He's had a heck of a run in Wichita.  The dude has had a winning season EVERY year of his professional coaching career, with the exception of his first season (07-08) in Wichita.  (His second season there was a break-even at 17-17).  That's quite an accomplishment for someone who has been a HC since 1998.

Someone needs to call Gregg Marshall this afternoon and let him know we obviously do not care if a coach verbally and mentally abuses players but we would like to have winning seasons and NCAA tournament appearances on a fairly regular basis.

I would differ with the characterization you posit of Frank Martin.  But nevertheless, we'll see how CFM's squad fares this year.  I have a strong suspicion that we will be back in the NCAAs this season, barring some injury bug biting our team again.  Perhaps then it will be a moot point about Gregg Marshall and USC's need for his services.  (Though again, I'm of the opinion that he would NOT make a very good fit for us due to a number of factors).

If we agree on one thing, it is that Gregg Marshall has the wins/tournament appearances to his name... that's for certain.

In 13 full seasons at Wichita State, Marshall led the Shockers to seven NCAA Tournament appearances and an overall record of 331-121. His overall record as an NCAA Divison 1 men’s basketball coach is 525-204.
I would say WSU would have to be a fool to fire Marshall given his overall record there unless there is some truth to the allegations.

For me, I'm a little on the fence about these allegations. If true, then yes, he should be fired. However, I knew him while he was at Winthrop. Granted, we weren't bffs, but I had numerous conversations with him and got to see some behind the scenes stuff as well. The allegations against him don't sound like the man I knew. Was he intense? Hell yeah he was. Was he passionate about winning? Of course. Did he curse at players? Yes he did, but it was never calling the players a name or slur. It was more of the "move your fucking ass and get back on defense" kind of things. On a personal level, I hope the allegations aren't true. However, like I said before, if they are true he should be fired/resign.

I always thought he would have been a great fit here, just the timing never worked out. Once he got to Wichita and basically started printing money, I knew it would be a long shot for him to coach here.

I thought the same thing, but he also seems like he changed a lot once he started having the big success.  He really seemed full of himself and nothing like Kresse, who he coached under.  I wanted him to come to USC, but once I saw how he acted at Wichita State and his wife with her incident I really did not think he was the same person.

Actually, there are multiple players who have come forward to substantiate the verbal and physical abuse, as well as the racially insensitive comments.

I don't think there's a place for a coach like that in college basketball anymore.

Marshall resigned yesterday. Agreed to a 6 yr/$7.75M buyout.

He'll probably take a year or 2 off, then get back on the sidelines somewhere.

Couldn't agree more.
