Stephen Guidry
USC Friday lost a commitment from WR Stephen Guidry of Hinds JC, MS. Guidry, who committed to the Gamecocks in March, announced his decommitment on his Twitter account.
“I’d like to thank the coaches and fans of the University of South Carolina for the opportunity and the vast amount of love but after discussing things with my family we feel it’s safe that I decommit from USC and reopen my recruitment. #USCWillForeverBeTop5.”
Earlier this week Guidry said he was still solid with his commitment (85%) and communicates daily with recruiter Bryan McClendon. But he said he was also hearing from Mississippi State, Arizona State, Alabama, Auburn and Louisville. He has offers from Arizona State and Mississippi State and he said the Bulldogs were working hard to flip him.
When Guidry committed to USC one of the main reasons was because he saw the chance for early playing time.
“I want to be the star of the team and South Carolina doesn’t have receivers,” he said in March. “I looked at all their highlights and pictured myself playing for them.”
Guidry’s decommitment leaves USC with seven commitments in the class.
