Some comments I saw online.
Why South Carolina?
“It’s an amazing program. Coach Beamer is building something different there, and I want to be a part of it. Beamer Ball is going to be great. We’re looking forward, and the recruiting class they’ve already brought in, me being the final piece of that – it’s a great family there. It feels right there at home, and that’s the best place for me. You want to go where your heart is at, and you’ll make everything work. Besides that, I’m going to make everything work. In three or four years, y'all are going to see me in the NFL Draft being the number one overall pick. That’s why I’m committing there.”
How do you plan to balance football and track at South Carolina?
“The game plan is, I’ve been doing it for the last four years, balancing track and football. That’s not the hard part. It makes it easier, actually, with the nutritionist, the strength coach and the overall structure we have in the plan. They’ll see me on the football field in the fall, the track in the summer and also going to the Olympics. We’re going to see what happens with that.”
Walk us through the background of your parents and their role in your academic endeavors …
“My dad was a professional soccer player, and that’s where I got the athleticism from. Athleticism has always been in the family. He’s always pushed me to be the best. I couldn’t play soccer, so we wanted to try something else. My mom, her birthday was two days ago, so this was a little late birthday present. I wanted to make her happy. She is the brains of the family, and that’s where I got the brains. It’s two pieces of the puzzle. I’m very thankful for both of them.”
I really think this guy will be key to getting us into competition with UGA and others. It feels like 2012 all over again when we got Clowney. USC is turning into something really special with Beamer leading the way
