One of the state’s top 2016 prospects is LB Brandon Hill 6'3 "215lbs who lives in Orangeburg but attends Heathwood Hall in Columbia. He travels 40 miles each way to go to school, and he’ll be hitting the road even more over the next month as he visits some of his offering schools for junior days.
Hill has offers from Clemson, Wake Forest and Duke. He’s also drawing interest from USC, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt. Duke coach David Cutcliffe was by his school Monday. Clemson recruiters Brent Venables and Dan Brooks dropped by last Friday. And Wake Forest recruiter Kevin Higgins also came thru last week.
Last season Hill went to one game at Clemson, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech and made two gameday visits to Duke.
It’s early in the process for Hill and he’s keeping the options open with no favorites.
“I’m listening to all the coaches and taking everything into consideration,” he said. “I’m trying to keep my mind open and take in everything that they have. I’ll narrow it down in a couple of weeks to a top two.”
Clemson has been showing strong interest in Hill while USC has been lukewarm towards him thus far, but Hill doesn’t place the blame on the Gamecocks.
“I can’t be made at them,” he said, “because I haven’t taken the time to initiate contact with them.”
Hill will attend Clemson’s junior day this Saturday. He will go to Virginia Tech February 7th, Wake Forest February 21st and Duke February 28th.
Hill made 120 tackles last season. He also plays defensive end, running back, receiver and some Wildcat quarterback.
