Here are a few notes on some South Carolina targets for the 2014 recruiting class:

  • Drew Barker was invited to participate in the Army All-American Game. Barker, the top QB signal caller for 2014 and only QB offered by USC, seems to be set between the Gamecocks and Kentucky at this stage of the game. Barker will be on campus next weekend visiting South Carolina and will return for the Spring Game as well.
  • Braxton Berrios picked up an offer today for South Carolina's rival Clemson Tigers. The three-star wide receiver recruit seems excited about the offer but the Gamecocks should still be considered the leader here at this time.
  • Da'Shawn Hand, widely considered the #1 recruit in the nation, is set to take a trip to Michigan this weekend.
  • South Carolina reportedly got a visit from Sandy Creek QB Cole Garvin this past Tuesday. He's a three-star recruit with an offer from Marshall at this time. He would be a prospect down the line should USC miss on Barker or another quarterback, but that's not expected. Just wanted to share.

Thanks! This class could potentally be the highest ranked Gamecocks football recruiting class in program history especially if the Gamecocks land nationally ranked recruits like QB Drew Baker, DE Da'Shawn Hand, OL Donell Stanley, DE/DT Dexter Widman, WR Shaq Davidson, DT Poona Ford, WR Blake Bone, OL Bentley Spain, RB Derrell Scott, LB Bryson Allen-Williams, WR Braxton Berrios, DT Lamont Gaillard, and DE Richard Yeargin III.
