High jumping WR Joseph McVay catches Gamecock's attention, lands an offer

They all sat down and watched me on film. I’m talking to Coach Loggains, and I talked to Coach Stepp, too. Coach Loggains was the one who gave me the offer.”

McVay uses that high-jumping talent on the football field exceptionally well. Last season he caught 69 passes for 1573 yards and 22 touchdowns.

“They like my explosiveness, they like my athleticism and they like that I can get yards after the catch and things like that,” McVay said of what he’s heard from Loggains and Stepp. “That’s a big offer. I was just smiling the whole night. I started getting love from the Gamecock fans and it was just great. After they offered me, a whole lot of coaches followed me from the SEC and Big Ten.”

Now that he has an offer from the Gamecocks, McVay plans to look closer.

“I plan on taking an OV there,” he said. “I really want to get to really see how they work and how they are recruiting me. I really want to get to know them.”

McVay has set one official visit with Vanderbilt on June 9th. He visited Tulane, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas State this spring. Also on his offer list are Penn State, Penn State, Purdue, UTSA, Texas State, Tulsa, and Colorado State.

McVay said he wants to make his decision prior to the start of his senior season.
