Order has been restored to SCISA 8-man football. Playing at Calhoun Academy last night, the Andrew Jackson Confederates scored with around 40 seconds left in the second quarter to take a 20-14 lead to halftime over St. John's Christian and never trailed again as they took command in the second half and rolled to a 44-28 win. Andrew Jackson Academy caps off an unblemished 13-0 2019 season and remains the only undefeated team in all classifications of SCISA. This is the 4th state title in the last 5 years for AJA. With the win tonight, Andrew Jackson is now 61-1 in our last 62 football games. It was a great way to cap off a really fun season this year.

Gray Collegiate had to play their "home" playoff game in Newberry. Benedict wanted a flat fee of 10k to use their field. Newberry let Gray have theirs for 800

Geez, I remembe when that school closed down and their students had to go to Bamberg.

Unless I'm totally blanking, I don't know anything about that.  When was this?  There was an Allendale Academy back in the day that closed and never reoponed.  Not sure if that is what you are thinking about maybe.

No it was there, I promise. Back in the early 70s it was opened when we started intergrating schools. If you are familiar with the area, the school was south of Bamberg on Hwy. 601. It built at a cross road where Clear Pond is near.

Okay but when was it closed?  That's the part with which I'm not familiar (or at least totally forgot).  I'm very familiar with the school at least the last several years.  I have been at just about every football, basketball, and baseball game home and road for the last 2-3 years.

It was around 1980, they reopened a couple of years ago after that. A lot of their students ended up at B-E. Their was one kid out of all the boys that came over that was a good athelete. I think his name was Gene Sease. He ended up being a fairly good baseball and football player.

Yeah, I wouldn't know about anything that happened at the school that long ago.  I know Gene though.  He's still very involved at AJA.  The football team plays now at Hallman Sease Field.  Hallman is Gene's father.

I don't doubt what you're saying at all.  The only disconnect is that I found this website that has the entire history of SCISA football.  This site has schedules and scores dating back to the 1970's.  The only problem is it hasn't been updated for the last 2 years.  But, it has AJA fielding a team every year in the 80's with scores and schedules so not sure what the deal is there.

I went looking for this a few days ago to see how many state titles AJA has now in football.  I certainly knew the school had won 4 titles in the last 5 years.  And, I knew there was another 3-peat back in the day which happened 1996-98.  This site also has them winning state in 1978.  So, that's a total of 8 state championships.  If this site is accurate, it has only 3 SCISA schools with more state titles in its history...........Hammond with 14; Thomas Heyward and Wardlaw just ahead of AJA with 9.

Maybe the deal was AJA had to go up on tuition ? Cant remember now, but I promise you it was a mass defection of some kind from there during my Soph or Freshman year in HS.
