Hilinski staying put

I think Hilinski will be a good solid back-up QB for us for no other reason than he still may be spooked by his brother's suicide due to CTE.

He gets to avoid a lot of potential helmet-to-helmet stuff and still be on scholarship and get a degree from USC.  That's a good deal if your heart is not set on playing in the NFL.

Definitely not a slam because Hilinski staying with us would break the chain of deflated egos that have left after losing their starting job.

Does this mean his "attitude" issues are on their way out with the new coaching staff, or was/is his beef with Bobo?

What makes you say his heart is not on playing in the NFL?

IMHO Bobo had his mind set on playing Hill from day one if he was physically ready.  He finally knew he had to change and went with Doty instead of Hilinski because of a mobility.

First post here (I think). I mostly just read and not post but this topic concerns something that's bothered me all year. Hilinski was held back most all of 2019 due to injuries. Go back and to the Alabama game when he was healthy. Remember what people were saying after that game? We lost but most people were saying Carolina has found their quarterback. Even in the loss, people could see Hilinski's potential. Then the inquires happen. Fast forward to this year and Bobo for whatever reason will not give this guy a chance. I know he said his footwork etc. was not good but I don't buy that. Bobo did some good things but his handling of the quarterbacks is proof enough for me, he doesn't need to be kept on. It took 7 games to finally see there needed to be a change. I know Hilinksi is not as mobile as Doty but he has a better arm. He should have been given a chance at some point this season to see if he was the quarterback we all thought he could be after that bama game.

Just want to point out that none of us were on the practice field or in the QB room to see why Hilinski didn’t get PT. Every football coach’s time at a university is based on his success; to say that Bobo held Hilinski out to prove a point when in fact he was the best option is to buy into a theory that was floated out there and the longer he sat the more traction it got. I don’t buy it. Bobo isn’t some noob who can’t judge QB play ... yes, Hill got PT beyond when most of us thought he should, which tells me that in practices he must have shown he could perform better than LD or RH.

JMO.

Welcome, and well thought-out first post.
I appreciate it and I see what ya'll are saying. I just remember thinking after the bama game this kid could be special. I just really wanted to see him get that chance while healthy. JMO

Me too! The QB room is going to be stocked with four-star talent next year!
