Hilinski to Northwestern

Question I honestly don’t know the answer to: who was the last player to transfer from us who went on to light it up and play super well at his next institution?

Only person I can come up with is Kenny Irons. He rushed for about 2,000 yards in 2 seasons at Auburn.

I think he got the shaft this year  from Bobo. Not saying he should have been our starter, but he deserved some quality playing time in a few games at least. I wish him well.

Helluva pull - well done. Forgot Kenny had that much success there.
Thanks. Let me take a bow. Lol

Only reason I remember that is because I was at Carolina when Kenny transferred. I was disappointed because you could see flashes of being a very good rb in the little bit of playing time he got.

Just thinking about those years made me go back and look at who was in front of him at the time. I remember he wanted to play with his brother, who was at Auby, but not who else was on our squad at the time, and we had some pretty serious RB talent: Demetrius Summers, Daccus Turman, Gonzie Gray, and the emergence of Cory Boyd, who then passed the baton to Mike Davis.

Great school excellent city. Big upgrades in both respects.

Meh football team. Down grade there

Agree with all except football team...they are a step up from the gamecocks at this point (unfortunately)
I wish you were wrong, so I'll just wait for Ace to jump in and tell us how our 2-8 team is about to win 9 superbowls in a row. ha

I read an article that Ryan will be competing against former tater QB Hunter Johnson (was only at tater tech for 1 yr and then transferred to NW).  Does not look like he has played much at NW.  Interesting QB battle. Former Tater vs. former Gamecock.  Good luck Ryan!

The Super Bowl is for the NFL. So  I think that winning just one would be a good accomplishment, not nine. We just need to figure out how to contain Mahomes.

The flip side is that we are not a 2-8 team either. In terms of talent, we should be better than Mizzou, Ole Miss and UK - three teams that beat us last year. And that is not totally opinion, it is based on recruiting rankings (Aubie is more talented and we beat them - which is the reason that they went after all of our coaches, LOL).

We had an unusually high number of opt outs and injuries last year. And an unimaginative coaching staff. With OOC games resuming next year and getting our guys back playing, there is no reason that we should not compete for a bowl game. Assuming that we do not still have an unimaginative staff, of course.
We are extremely thin and inexperienced at QB, obviously.  So a ton hinges on one position, health and improvement of that one position.  We had higher ranked recruiting that those teams as you mention but it was either unrealized talent, underutilized, or not developed the way UK and Mizz have.  They're better than us in that regards.

I knew you wouldn't let me down!
