Hill feels even better about Gamecocks following spring game visit

SPORTSTALK / April 20, 2023

1682033834569.pngRB Daniel Hill (6-1 215) of Meridian, MS has had USC among his favorites since visiting for the Tennessee game last season. Gamecocks running backs coach Monterio Hardesty has made him one of his priority targets, and the two of them got the chance to develop an even tighter bond last weekend when Hill came in for the spring game. Hill also got the chance to see more about what the school and program have to offer.

“Being able to tour everything and see what they have to offer,” Hill said. “I love South Carolina as a school. I love the coaches. I love the culture they’re building. I love the direction they’re going in. So, I had a good time overall. It’s a place that I can really see myself playing at. You know for spring game, you have that many fans come out for it to be that big, you know that that means something is really brewing in Columbia.”

Hill met up with head coach Shane Beamer and with Hardesty. In fact, all the coaches got involved with him while he was on campus.

“I talked to pretty much the whole staff, and they were telling me how much they really want me at South Carolina,” Hill said. “The opportunity that I have if I come to South Carolina, and the fact that they’re building something. They had 3,4 people this week commit in the 2024 class, have the best O-line you can be playing for, that’s something to really think about.’

Those offensive linemen Hill referenced…Mike Williams, Blake Franks, Kam Pringle and Josiah Thompson…also were at the spring game, and he made it a point to get to know them.

“I had the opportunity to sit with the whole O-line that’s committed now. They were all there. I had the chance to talk to them and talk about what made them choose South Carolina,” he said. “This puts South Carolina up there pretty high in my recruiting as of right now. I love South Carolina. We’ll just see where things go. Tennessee is up there. Auburn. Penn State, Michigan, Alabama, those are a few schools also up there.”

Hill is also a track standout, and that sport has taken up most of his time this spring, so his only other visit was to Alabama for a January junior day. He does not have any other spring visits planned. He does have three official visits set with Auburn June 16th, Alabama June 18th and USC June 23rd. He plans to make his decision this summer before his season.
