The biggest change has been in the demeanor and work ethic of our team. I think it was no coincidence that it started when Stephon, Devonte, DJ, Marcus & all those core players got here. How many times before then would you hear The HBC complain about the team slacking during "voluntary" summer workouts and conditioning?

How many times have you heard him say anything resembling anything negative since then?

Answer to the first question is: every year, 7 days a week.

Answer to the 2nd question is: Never, that I remember. Besides with Garcia. This year he is pumped.

Also, the number of suspensions, arrests for 'bad' stuff( violent crimes and robberies ) have pretty much disappeared. Interviews with reporters, Ace is an excellent example, all start with 'yes sir', and 'no sir'.

The team has rallied around the best examples of student athletes we have in people like DJ, Melvin, Travian, TC, TJ, and Connor.

And most of all, they have embraced and tried to emulate Marcus. They demanded to take him to away games, even though he was hurt. They listen to and respect him. And, they all have adapted a team first attitude.

I don't know what all this is due to. It does seem as if the coaches are paying as much attention to character as talent when recruiting. Good character and attitudes also breed good character and attitudes. The young guys that come in will see how things are done, and they will either fit in, or get squeezed out.

The responsibility ultimately falls to The HBC, though, and I am forever in his debt.
