In today's media driven world, in which far too many "me" generation youth will do or say anything to extend their 15 minutes of fame, it is refreshing to see a young man who understands the value of his word and is not willing to damage his credibility just to get people talking about him. BAW has been open and honest about his commitment to Carolina with each school has invited him to visit. He has been open and honest with our staff that he understands that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience for him. Because of his honesty, our staff has encouraged him to enjoy the process knowing that at no time in this process has he given anyone with a level head any reason to question his word.
Today's visit to Alabama is one that none of us would have turned down if we were in his shoes and when it was all over he said that, while it gave him plenty to think about, he was firmly committed to the Gamecocks. He held true to his word he would visit Alabama and next week he will hold true to his word that he would visit UGA. When he leaves, he will most likely admit that he was given plenty to think about but, because of his past actions, I have 100% faith that he will remain committed to USC. It is clear that he has been raised to be a fine young man who understands the value of the word commitment and does not take that word lightly. He has been a recruiting machine for us and we should be thankful. For those of you who are searching for a reason to panic when he said he was given something to think about, I would recommend you ponder the following thought:
Maybe, just maybe, BAW will spend his ride home and the next few days thinking about each of those crystal footballs and how amazing it would be to be part of the first team in the history of Gamecock football to hoist one about their heads rather than becoming just another guy who won one of many trophies at another school.
That, my friends, leaves not just Bryson, but Gamecock fans as well, with quite a lot to think about.
