In-state corner starting to generate buzz, likes what he sees from Gamecocks coaches

One of the interested observers at South Carolina’s scrimmage Saturday was 2021 cornerback Kendrick Makins (5-foot-11, 165 pounds) of Greenwood. He’s just starting to generate some buzz in football recruiting circles and is looking for his first Power 5 offer. He has an offer from Appalachian State.
His focus on the visit was on the cornerbacks and how they worked with secondary coach Travaris Robinson.
“I liked how coach T-Rob broke down things to Izzy (Israel Mukuamu) and Jaycee (Horn) when they asked questions and make sure each and every one of them was getting better,” Makins said. “ I also learned a lot from their strength conditioning staff, not just football things but also outside of football and life.”
Makins feels good about being on the Gamecocks’ board for the 2021 recruiting season and expects to hear more from them down the road.
“They’re showing pretty good interest,” he said. “Coach Hutzler said he going to get down in the spring and watch me work. And I’m also going to be up there for 7-on-7. They going to watch me in the spring and when I come to 7-on-7.”
Makins also has visited Georgia Southern.
