In-state QB recaps second game at USC

Dillon (S.C.) High School quarterback Brayden Hawkins has taken a pair of visits to South Carolina this season, first for the home opener against East Carolina and again on Sunday for the Georgia game.
“It was good. I enjoyed it. I liked it a lot,” Hawkins said of the most-recent visit.
While in town, he spoke with offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper and running backs coach/recruiter of record Bobby Bentley.
“That’s who I’ve been talking to the most up there,” Hawkins said.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect detailed his conversation with Roper.
“It was just the same stuff, how the season and everything was going. I haven’t really had a conversation with him — besides
about how the season is going — since camp,” Hawkins said.
This season, he’s also visited Marshall and Wake Forest. Trips to Boston College, N.C. State, Ohio, Princeton, Purdue and Virginia Tech also are on the docket.
“The campus is close to home,” Hawkins said of South Carolina. “The environment is really good. I like coach Muschamp, coach Roper and coach Bentley. Everything really fits.”
In his first season at Dillon, the Wildcats are 5-1. But because of Hurricane Matthew, they haven’t practiced or played in more than a week.
Hawkins has completed 63 for 90 throws for 1,128 yards with 11 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He’s also rushed 6 times for 34 yards and 2 touchdowns.
