Way too many injuries in our 3 major sports

Sophomore TJ Shook, who has been South Carolina’s de facto Sunday starter as of late, will “very likely” miss the rest of the season after reaggravating a back injury he suffered in high school in last weekend’s game against Missouri, coach Mark Kingston announced Thursday.

Gamecocks sports medicine, athletic training, strength conditioning

USC big three of football, mens basketball and baseball have all three been hammered with injuries this academic year. It absolutely affected in a major way all three seasons. I am surprised no discussion or conversation on whats going in with the whole athletic training and sports medicine/conditioning program in the Carolina athletic department. If players unusually and consistently get injured, isn't that one area one would want to pull back the hood on?? I know injuries happen and are part of the game but this year at Carolina its been pretty crazy.

Could it be that many kids play too much basketball only, baseball only, football only. You hear people say all the time play more than one sport but I’m not sure how many are actually following that advice. I also think kids are just getting so big so fast now you have very little room for error. It’s unfortunate but at many High Schools if you are going to play Varsity in one of the big three you typically will have to spend the majority of your time focused on that sport. A lucky few are good enough to play multiple sports well but not many.
