Injury Update: South Carolina QB commitment Dakereon Joyner

November 28, 2017

In the final game of an impressive career at Fort Dorchester High School, South Carolina 4-star quarterback commitment Dakereon Joyner suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder.

Joyner, who was spotted at the Clemson game on Saturday in a sling, suffered an AC sprain in his left shoulder.

“Nothing major,” he told SEC Country.

Despite the injury, Joyner said he “should” be able to play next Saturday in the Shrine Bowl. Practice for the annual all-start game between North and South Carolina begins Monday morning in Spartanburg, S.C.

“Taking care of it,” he said. “It’ll be healed in two weeks, at most.”

Fort Dorchester (North Charleston) lost to Dutch Fork (Irmo) on Friday night in the South Carolina 5A semifinal. The loss dropped the Patriots to 13-1 on the season, which saw Joyner complete 140 of 207 passes for 2,414 yards with 35 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,031 yards and 17 touchdowns.

For his high school career, he passed for nearly 10,000 yards.

Joyner, who committed to South Carolina on Fathers Day over a handful of Power 5 offers, including North Carolina State and Virginia Tech, is listed by the 247Sports composite as the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2018.

Before he enrolls at South Carolina in January, Joyner is scheduled to play in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl
