I was a senior at Columbia High when this happened. My late father, who grew up near the South Shore of Lake Michigan in Indiana remembers the Witches of November very well. Those storms were the equivalent of a Cat 1 or 2 hurricane and just as deadly when they hit.
For further reference. The Discovery Channel program regarding the event was one of the best documentaries produced regarding the loss of the ship.

I don’t know if it’s because of the song, but that shipwreck has always fascinated me.
