Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards three-star cornerback Tavyn Jackson committed to South Carolina moments ago on Twitter. The 5-foot-10, 180 pounder camped in Columbia earlier this week and had an impressive day in front of the Gamecock coaches. Jackson ranks as the nation's No. 91 cornerback according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He also had offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Oregon State, UCF, and others.
Jackson picked the Gamecocks for multiple reasons.
"I went up there with my family and all the coaches talked to us and treated us like family. I felt at ease. They know what they want to accomplish and I want to be a part of it. It’s a family down there. It’s like a brotherhood. Their whole mentality was ‘what can we do to help you?”
He knew shortly after that visit what his school choice would be.
“After I got home, I just thought about it and came away with a decision that South Carolina was the school for me.”
Jackson had just hung up with the Gamecock coaches when he did the interview.
“All of the coaches are jacked up at the camp. I spoke with coach (Will) Muschamp and some of the other coaches."
