If the Bentley experiment is the route taken, then to me it's damn clever. Since the bafoon of an AD and BOT got us into this mess with a huge buyout, Ray keeps his job because he hired Muskrat and he continues to bring in the large donations, and Muskrat is pacified because the moron likes to promote from within. So changes are made to "satisfy " the fanbase and everyone keeps their jobs (for now) with result being another sub-mediocre to mediocre season next year under a HC who's proven his worth.

I hope he stays and competes with hilinski for the starting job. Hilinski could use a year to develop more.

This tells me decisions have already been made and the Bentley’s have been informed.  Curious what the news will be.

We need Bentley back for many reasons.  Soph QB Hilinski, Joyner with no real QB experience, true Freshman Doty.   We need a veteran to show those guys the way and be a leader in the off season, practice and games.

But who is going to show Bentley the way?  If we don’t get a proven OC, who can coach these kids, it’s going to more of the blind leading the blind.

If Jake wants a shot at the NFL, he needs a fresh start away from our offensive dysfunction. I wish him the best.

Nothing solid here however there has been a lot of chatter of Jake to Utah growing over the course of the afternoon.

I would prefer he stay, allow Ryan a year to develop and maintain depth in the QB room however that is purely personal opinion.

I think if Jake stays we lose someone.  Not sure Hilinski needs to sit next year if he can be healthy and have an OC that does not call an eclectic offense.  Also not sure what it does for Doty’s decision if Jake comes back.

Bentley doesn't make good decisions as a QB, that's been his problem. He's had opportunities to shine without a threat of being replaced and did not take advantage of it.

Strictly internet chatter but saying Georgia and Bama have been in touch.  Fromm might be heading to NFL and Bama wants options with Tua gone.

I would love for him to stay, Hilinski and Doty get in RS and Jake just have an awesome season that makes him a Heisman contender. But I dream big to often. I really think that either way , even if Jake leaves, Joyner might transfer too unless we get the right OC on board that will give him a better chance to play QB.

Gladly Shi is coming back so whoever is QB will have a really good experienced receiver,

After four seasons on the South Carolina Gamecocks roster, senior quarterback Jake Bentley will reportedly finish his college football career elsewhere.

Bentley will announce his decision to leave South Carolina as a graduate transfer as early as Monday, according to a report from WACH FOX sports reporter Mike Uva.

"USC QB Jake Bentley is not expected to return to the program next season, according to a source close to the team," Uva wrote in a tweet on Sunday. "However, I’m told his father Bobby Bentley is expected to remain on staff at USC. ...Bentley is excepted to make his announcement about his future as early as tomorrow, according to a source close to the team. I’ve been told that Bentley plans to transfer."

So, he's leaving

Sitting does nothing. Unless the next QB coach can fix his arm, he'll continue to be inaccurate on key throws like the one to BE at the end of the App St game.

Curious to see where he ends up.  Wish him the best and appreciate all he did here at SC.

I really think this is best for Bentley and USC.  Very good decision on his part and I hope he finds a place to shine and make it to the NFL.
