Jamarcus King had his first two-interception game at South Carolina on Saturday.

The junior cornerback was named the SEC defensive player of the week for his efforts in the Gamecocks’ 24-21 upset win against Tennessee.

King also had 5 tackles and two pass breakups to go along with the pair of interceptions.

“Jamarcus is instinctive,” coach Will Muschamp said after the game. “He’s got length. He has all the physical attributes that we like and he’s been a very coachable guy since he’s been here. He works. He listens. When you correct him, he doesn’t take it personally. He tries to learn and listen.”

King’s first interception of Tennessee’s Josh Dobbs led to a South Carolina touchdown off a short field.

His second pick came in the fourth quarter and helped seal the win late, snuffing out a Tennessee drive when he broke across to make a leaping interception.

The junior college transfer has three interceptions this season.

Well done Jamarcus, you really proved to us that you are a talented player
