Jamyest Williams set for trip to the Georgia Dome; more Gamecocks weekend recruiting notesDec. 03, 2016
Next weekend at The DomeSouth Carolina commitment Jamyest Williams will play in the Georgia Dome next weekend when Grayson High School takes on Roswell in the 7A state championship.
Williams, who’s committed to play defensive back for the Gamecocks, made a few plays with the ball in his hands on Friday night.
Grayson also features 2017 offensive tackle Tony Gray and 2017 safety Deangelo Gibbs, as well as a host of 2018 and 2019 prospects. Roswell, of course, has several Power 5 prospects, including Clemson cornerback commitment LeAnthony Williams Jr.
The 6A game will see Tucker and Valdosta. Tucker is home to 2017 defensive lineman Aaron Sterling, a 3-star who was once committed to Alabama. South Carolina is in line for an official visit later this month.
Leaving the Columbia areaJordyn Adams, the son of former South Carolina defensive line coach Deke Adams, announced on Friday night that he would transfer from Blythewood (S.C.) High School. Jordyn and his mother will move to Greenville, N.C. to reunite with his father, who’s now an assistant at ECU.
What does that mean for South Carolina?
Probably not a whole lot. Adams has interest in South Carolina, but at this stage of the game, it would appear that Clemson and North Carolina are held in higher regard.
South Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson stopped by Blythewood earlier this week.
Adams is the second 2018 prospect who announced that he would transfer out of the state. Five-star defensive end Xavier Thomas tweeted about his move to the IMG Academy on Wednesday night.
Official visitsSouth Carolina will host 2017 defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman for an official visit in January. The 3-star from Woodson High School in Washington D.C. tweeted the news on Friday.
Twyman, who’s listed as the No. 47 defensive tackle in the country, also has offers from Maryland and Pittsburgh.
Junior college cornerback Keisean Nixon (Compton, Calif.) has reportedly scheduled his fifth and final official visit.
Nixon visited South Carolina last month and he’s scheduled to announce his decision on Dec. 17, his mother’s birthday.
South Carolina hosted 3-star safety Naytron Culpepper for an official visit earlier this fall. This weekend, Culpepper will be in College Park, Md., taking an official visit to Maryland.
South Carolina cornerback commitment Tavyn Jackson is also on an official visit to Maryland this weekend.
