Javon Kinlaw’s favorite school and official visit dates

The latest on Javon Kinlaw
Southern Cal will get the first official crack at 4-star defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, the former South Carolina commitment, who was placed by the Gamecocks at Jones County (Miss.) Junior College.
Kinlaw (Goose Creek, S.C.) will visit the Trojans next weekend, during the first few days of the upcoming contact period. Alabama is next in line, for the following weekend.
South Carolina will have Kinlaw in for the final weekend, which will be his last official visit before announcing a decision on Jan. 31.
Tennessee, once touted as a potential visit destination, “probably” won’t get an official from the No. 1-ranked strong-side JUCO defensive end in the Class of 2017.
Kinlaw, who’s the No. 12 JUCO prospect in the country, lists the Gamecocks as his favorite.
“It’s because of the communication and the relationships,” he said.
More official visit news
South Carolina fans learned the news they’d hope would never come across the wire: 4-star cornerback Jamyest Williams (Loganville, Ga.) is going to take an official visit to Georgia.
The Dawgs were long considered as the team to beat for Williams, who’s the Gamecocks’ top-ranked 2017 commitment.
If there’s a bright side to the news, it’s this: Williams is saving South Carolina for his final official visit. It’s the same weekend as Kinlaw’s, among others.
Timing of official visits isn’t always an end-all-be-all deciding factor, but it certainly helps to have rights to the final opportunity for face time. If you’re South Carolina, that’s reason for optimism, but it won’t be easy to hold off a late charge from the in-state team.
Three-star offensive tackle Jordan Tucker (Roswell, Ga.) is scheduled to visit Louisville on Jan. 13. South Carolina will get its crack at the former Tennessee commitment a week later.
