C&W Singer and Songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker has passed away at the age of 78 from cancer. He is best known for writing Mr. Bojangles.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's version is the one I remember from back in the day.

On that note, I remember the NGDB playing some type of spring break festival thing with the Outlaws during the 1980s at one of the Blatt PE fields that isn't there anymore.  Just getting those bands to play for us was a big deal back then.

It's not just the performers that have retired and died; the writers, producers, and engineers from that time have as well.

I find the absence of unique pop music performers utterly astonishing today given how prevalent they were for me growing up.
