No, Jimbo won a NC. He has recruited very well recently and should probably be given more time to keep that going and to try and show on the field results as well. He's not a terrible coach nor was he a bad hire at TAMU. The hiring of Muschamp was a bad hire by a mediocre AD grasping at straws and return phone calls by anyone not playing him for a better deal elsewhere. That same AD gave him the extension when nobody was calling for Champ and the buyout. Can't blame champ for Tanner's blunders.

Would you have rather he not fired him? Did you think he was a bad hire? If you want to compete is that not going to happen in order for a coach to recruit? You would rather he hand cuff the coach, blow the program up and not make it look good for the next group of coaches.... I understand your frustration but think that is football in the SEC...
Bingo! It was an absolute bad hire by RT in the first place. WM was the only one returning calls after getting beat out by UGA for Kirby and played by others for better deals elsewhere. Equally bad decision/timing with the extension and level of buyout. Zero legit interest in others hiring him away at that time so there was no need for that size of contract. It didn't help us compete in the SEC or with recruiting, just cost a ton of needless $ to get rid of him. Of course RT can't just sign off on everything by himself, there's plenty of folks that have been making terrible decisions on the boar and in the AD for decades around this program.
So you are butt hurt over Smart and everything is bad... Roger that! Not sure it helps but I get it, just not sure if Tanner could have done much different to make the situation better and it is history now.

Nothing against Shane, but I would rather Tanner had mentored both Will and Frank and made them better coaches, but it didn't happen.
Crap, Tanner even said in his intro presser for Lamont that he didn't know what kind of system Paris ran. So he doesn't know when to jump in when a coach is going down the same primrose path as the last one.
Shane will have to rely on his dad to get better if he struggles, because I doubt he will get much help from Tanner. In all fairness, Tanner has made things happen from an NIL standpoint, though.
I think we all hope the team gets stuff figured out against SEC opponents pretty soon.
