OL [COLOR= rgb(178, 34, 34)]John Simpson [/COLOR]6'4" 296lbs of Fort Dorchester is back home after spending three days at Clemson competing in the Dabo Swinney Football Camp. The visit was the latest in a series of visits Simpson has made to Clemson and further cemented the Tigers atop his list at this point.
“It was pretty good getting coached up by Coach Caldwell,” Simpson said. “All the things they do at Clemson we do at our school but he taught me a different way. Coach Swinney told me I did better than he expected.”
Simpson’s time at Clemson was spent totally on football fundamentals. There was, of course, time for recruiting talk and he got another pitch from the Tigers.
“Mostly they were talking about staying in state,” he said. “They weren’t trying to pressure me.”
Simpson will go to USC Friday for the Steve Spurrier Camp but he won’t attend Saturday’s Gamecock Showcase Camp. He also plans to get to LSU, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida this summer. And he plans to return to Clemson in July for the All-In Barbeque.
Simpson said Clemson still leads for him but he now has Alabama second on his list bumping USC down a notch at this point. He has been planning to wait until the Army All American Game before announcing but he he said he might go public with a decision before the summer is out. And this latest visit to Clemson gave him more to consider about the Tigers.
“I had a good learning experience,” he said. “Nothing has really changed (with Clemson). I’ve already seen everything.”
