Josh Belk greets future teammates

June 09, 2018

Josh Belk, the newest South Carolina recruiting commitment, was spotted inside the Gamecocks practice facility on Saturday morning.

SEC Country saw him on Saturday while covering Day 5 of the Will Muschamp Football Camp.

Belk committed to South Carolina on Friday night. A little more than 12 hours later, he was seen greeting a handful of future teammates, including junior defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw.

A former Clemson defensive tackle, Belk practiced with the Tigers during the spring, but elected to transfer at the end of the semester. Assuming he has to sit out in 2018 because of NCAA transfer rules, Belk will have four seasons of eligibility left to play at South Carolina.

Belk was ranked as the No. 2 player in South Carolina, the No. 7 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 102 overall player in the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports composite.

Belk isn’t the only Gamecocks commit on hand for camp on Saturday. Three-star linebacker Jahmar Brown, a 2019 prospect from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is in town for a second day.

Tackle Issiah Walker, a 2020 commitment from Miami, arrived on Friday and is set to work out with offensive line coach Eric Wolford on Saturday.

Gabe Stephens, a 2021 defensive back from Mount Holly, N.C., isn’t committed to South Carolina, but he is a legacy prospect. His father, the late Calvin Stephens, played guard and tackle for the Gamecocks. The younger Stephens lists offers from South Carolina, North Carolina, Penn State and TCU.
